Our Smiles
Since 1924, The Cheer Guild has been providing toys, books, blankets and stuffed animals to children of all ages with various serious illnesses. In hopes to make a difference in a child’s life, The Cheer Guild focuses on creating opportunities for children to put their illnesses aside for the moment and allow them just to be kids. Here are some of our stories that we’d like to share with you!
Riley's Own Zip Line!
For a few hours on Friday afternoon, Riley kids and their families were the VIPs as they got to feel some of the Super Bowl excitement that was taking place just a few miles away from the hospital. The Cheer Guild teamed up with the Child Life & Creative Arts Therapies Department on Friday to offer a unique NFL experience for the pediatric patients in the Atrium at Riley Hospital. In true Riley style, the Atrium was turned into a "Super Bowl Village". There were balloons, pictures in front of the "XLVI" numbers, crafts, football cookies, pizza, and of course, a zip line! The Cheer Guild provided stuffed animals that were carried by a zip line from the 4th floor Toy Room window! The lines were long at times as everyone eagerly waited for their animal to make its way down to them in Atrium!
